Opening Keynote – Then and Now… The evolution of Fleet Maintenance
One of the key challenges we face today is the changing role of the technician in light of astonishing advances in technology. Mike Jeffress, Vice President of Maintenance at Maverick Transportation and a former Chairman of the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations, is especially well equipped to speak about that challenge. He joined Maverick in 1986 as an entry-level tech fresh out of college when it operated less than 50 power units. That number is now 1700. In his keynote address he’ll chart the past three decades with a focus on how technologies and technicians have developed together over that stretch, and how they’ll have to evolve in the coming years.
